people on both sides say useless things. the left calls it dissent, the right calls it fox news and a.m. radio. big woop.
it would be nice if everyone started focusing hard on what's best for the country instead of being angry with each other, wouldn't it?
However, one particular side has had a monopoly on that anger for the last 2 years.
I'm sure you don't have any anti-American readers.
What some folk are unable to do is to seperate the government from the people. They are not the same thing.
"2) All anti-American statements are dissent against America (Captain Obvious rides again)"
...is indeed obvious. But not all statements against the US government are anti-American. They are criticisms of the government, not the nation as a whole.
How is dissent unpatriotic? Unless of course you happened to live in Nazi Germany or Stalinist Russia when any criticism of the State was treasonist.
"However, one particular side has had a monopoly on that anger for the last 2 years."
Yeah, that side being America.
"I'm sure you don't have any...readers."
"What some folk are unable to do is to seperate the government from the people. They are not the same thing."
The United States government is of, by, and for the people. No conceived separation is valid. The voters form the pimary level of government in America.
"...not all statements against the US government are anti-American."
Precisely. The task in question is to sort the statements according to their anti-American status.
"They are criticisms of the government, not the nation as a whole."
Calling Jenny McCarthy an idiot is an anti-Jenny McCarthy statement - no matter how much you like her boobs. When you attack her mind, it's categorically different from attacking an infection on her little finger.
"How is dissent unpatriotic?"
In general, it isn't. Not in America. Any particular dissent in question may be, or may not be. That's part and parcel of the point made in the post above. One person shouts, "Anti-American!" Someone defends by saying, "Dissent is American!" That "someone" has imposed a red herring on the discussion intended to take the scrutiny off of the anti-American nature of the statement in question.
The test for honesty is this: If a person invokes the concept of "dissent" as a defense for an allegedly anti-American statement, the person is dishonest. Whether or not the statement is dissent is not in question. Whether or not it is anti-American is the question.
Chances are that the statement was made in English, too. Defending the statement by saying, "The statement is in English! English is American!" does the defense of the statement no good. Well, it does if the jury are stupid people. But, again, that's the point of the post above.
American schools are an excelent tool for the rich and powerfull in america.
Not becasue american public schools are great; Quite the oposite, in fact.
You see, ignorant people are easier to control than educated people: Ignorant people will believe anything you tell them....untill someone else tells them something that leads them to question what they've been taught. If, at this point, the public-school product decides to question the world-veiw he's been given, there may be hope for him after all. Sadly, some never get past the revelation that everything they've been told is a massive lie, and the legions of disilusioned teenagers, who don't care about anything can be traced to exactly this stage in (Not to mention Columbine), but I digress.
Most people who were rasied in americas public schools find it easier to let someone else do the thinking for them than to find the time to learn how to think for themselves. To cater to this market, "Talk Radio" was born. No need to think for yourself, citizen: Rush Limbagh and a host of imitators are hear to drone their neocon message into your skull. Just ignore the obvious stupidity of the messenger and you won't ever have to think for yourself again... er.. until this gets you into trouble... and then you're on your own.
For most (sane) people, the sheer illogic of the neocon message is simply too much. They begin to seek "the truth", often while barely able to articulate their feelings in the matter. Corner them at this stage and you risk seting back their ability to think for themselves, possibly forever. I advise caution when dealing with such individuals. It is important to support an individual who has reached this stage, but it is vitaly important that one let the recovering public-schooler come to new ideas by his or her own self. Resist the temptation to preach at all costs! The golden rule is: "Unless your opinion was asked for AND is welcome, do not offer an opinion. Remember, the goal here is to let a person learn to think FOR THEMSELVES! Not to learn to think like you do, not to learn to think like your favorite author does.
Think of someone who is new to thinking for themself as someone who is drowning and is desperate for a life preserver, only you don't have a life preserver and you're tempted to jump in and save the poor drowning victim. Well, you may have the best of intentions, but it is ill-advised.
Now, if the former-public-shooler actualy comes right out and asks for your help and knows what it is he or she is asking, then give it serious consideration. If you feel up to it, go for it! But they've got to ask for it first. No guessing, no warm-fuzzy feelings, no post-coitial bliss, OK? And do us all a favor and just plain steer clear of the j-weed while you're at it, if not for your sake then for the sake of every other-non-stupid american.
This concludes your short crash-course in "idiot america"
For the record, the above was posted from a Canadian IP address.
It seems to me that the obvious reason for american idiocy is the fact that the average american continues to think of him/herself as the ultimate living being. This could cause the illusion that they have no need for education and buzz around on the couch looking and flipping the channels.
I think that most americans are mostly unaware of the knowledge obtainable. Also since when did an american ever think otherwise with his mind than his heart? "Praise the american spirit!" for (most) stupidity of geographical issues and political policies.

I wish I could turn my hate-beam, ( we all have one,) to some other country.. It's not the administration I hate. It's the people who voted it in. Therefore, I neccessarily hate the majority of the americans.. The fact that they seem to disown the torture inflicted by thier representatives in Korea, Vietnam, Burma, (UK stil involved in this emirate..), Indonesia, Ex-Kampuchea, Equador, Guadalcanal and Thailand.. All withering under the banner of hate towards the west, ma8inly USA, and being overrun by Islamic Fundeamentalism.
I'm fucked if I'll let my kids watch US tv or US crap in cinemas..
It's piss poor as an excuse, but if there was a showdown between Muslinm or whatever the americans can put forward...
Allah U Ahkbar
I dont hate Americans as individuals. But think the sooner America is destroyed the better it will be for the planet.
Pollution and a monkey in charge ! two out of every three people on this planet hate America because of its so called democracy. No one must have a bomb except them. Wankers pray for your kids as you can only piss people off for so long and then they will retaliate.
Democracy Father to Son power, husband to wife. Ha ha ! its money and influence no democacy. My heart bleeds for the man in the Street, but hey what real knowledge do canary's have?.
Forgive them father they know not what they do.
^-----Well, Americans, as if you needed another reason, there's why you should continue to support a strong(er) military.
"land of the free, home of the brave"
i laugh every time i see that.haha.
This is about all that you need to know to make a reasonably accurate "intelligence" estimate of America.
Exxon, Lockheed, Raytheon, Haliburton, Fox News, NYT, CNN, Washington Post, Burger King, McDonald's, Taco Bell, Budweiser, Coors, Miller, NASCAR, NFL, NBA, MLB, Rap Music, Country Music, Britney, Oprah, Paris Hilton, Anna Nicole, Judge Judy, Dr. Phil, Lee Raymond and finally, the "decider" himself.
there is just too many of u idiots. and u can't even speak a language properly...
ur all just obnoxious arrogant pigs... learn to spell properly children, THEATRE... how did u people get to change the spelling of that classic word...??? oh we are speaking of the dunce of the english speaking world... big time.... kama will get HAMERICA
they wonder why the world dislikes them so...
Hi, I found this page in a google search... The majority of America must, apparently, be as stupid as you say (unless you believe the election was rigged, and then that doesn't explain Bush being elected again)... Just remember, while the majority of the people in America (my country, sadly) are as stupid as you might think, there are still a great deal of Americans who are NOT that stupid. We just aren't quite the majority.
American politics seems to look more like a dynastic struggle between the Bush family and the Clinton family every time i see it. Dissent, criticism, theyre all just tools in this massive pantomime by the looks of it.
That was a really interesting post, Jeff. I like that comparison with fur too. lol
AMERICANS ARE IDIOTS!
DOWN WITH AMERICA,THE BIGGEST PARASITE ON EARTH!YEEEAAHHH!
Constant support of the government is anti-American.
Support for the country is not.
When you have a Communist president like we do now, supporting him is anti-American. When you have a Fascist president like we did between 2000 and 2008, that's also anti-American.
The Patriot Act Law is unconstitutional. Attacking foreign nations because you're so afraid of a dozen terrorists, that's cowardice, and that's not much of an American value. Allowing tax payer money to be handed over to criminals in our financial system without complaint is anti-American.
Our government is anti-American today and it's been that way for a long time. We have so many morons that can't distinguish between a corrupt government and the country it's taken over and the people it's screwing that America may soon simply die.
The problem with the country isn't that it's full of idiots. The people here are are stupid as people everywhere else. The problem is that it's big, rich, armed to the teeth, and ignorant.
No one is bothered by a poor retarded fellow that just works as a janitor and smiles to people to pass him by, but give a poor retarded fellow destructive weapons, a massive ego, and power and you have a big problem.
Our country inherited a massive industrial demand after most of the civilized world was crushed after WW2. However, this happened decades ago and our nation does not remember that we did not "earn" this wealth, yet we think we did. So we continue to dance the "we are so great" dance and ignore the real world which Europe was forced to live in.
America is always starting wars.
First the Pacific War (Japan)
Then the North Korean war
After that the Vietnam War
And last but not least, the conflict in Iraq
They always think they are so tough when they are in deficit. They also have the most obese people in the world!
You can be patriotic about your country, but when the name America comes to mind, they just overdo it. Period.
Forgot to put that in.
They also start random arguments about the stupidest things to argue and create conflicts beetween other countries and nations. It's just a waste of time and usually whatever they put down as comments on such things like youtube its all just a bunch of boasting and lies.
some americans yes are very very big freaking idiots....
they are angry, asking for something that is not possible which they know it is not and still asking for it...
Also come to think of it, they are stupid because they will ask questions about machines or gadgets without reading the manual......
some of them are idiots because they will sue their own government, why? they tripped over a brick on the pathway while talking on the mobile phone and looking somewhere else not on the road itself...
no only idiots but pathetic as well..
For God's sake stop using the worrd "Dissent"!
